Happy tiger, proud sailors & strong men

In 2010 Danish illustrator Michelle Carlslund decided to found her own little company: Michelle Carlslund Illustrations. With her designs, which are created in her studio in the centre of Copenhagen, Michelle creates her own little universe. A universe inhabited by strong men, eclectic cityscapes, playful puns, cheeky tigers and honey loving bears. Her work is playful and naïve. However, if you look closer, the illustrations carry meaning for both children and adults.A sad bear dressing up and trying to fit in… Michelle handles little everyday dilemmas with a smile and a good portion of self-irony. Her illustrations are made in different ways, sometimes she cuts and glues, other times she uses ink and water colour or even a electronic drawing pad. But common to all designs is the douche colour palette, the imaginative universe and the good story!"When I draw I try to turn the sometimes complex emotions in my head into something light and comprehensible. I often find it easier to handle the little dilemmas of everyday life if I try to look at them from above and laugh at myself. A sad bear dressing up and trying to fit in is a good metaphor of my state of mind on an off-day. A smile and a good portion of self-irony add some perspective. And think that perspective is always a good thing.”Shop the most beautiful Michelle Carlslund posters and cards here![oqeygallery id=23]
